Why Facebook's Like button is completely pointless

You see a funny, insightful, or cool status and press the like button. Five seconds later you forget about it.

The person on the other end receives a notification: “This person likes your status.” Five seconds later that person forgets about it.

In this respect the Like button is completely pointless. It’s just a button. I would hate to see another Dislike button go out there.

And I’m not saying Facebook should remove the like button, they should make it not pointless. How? Look at Twitter. On Twitter you can favorite statuses. But the crucial difference is: you can actually view your favorites by going to Twitter.com/favorites.

Well there you go Facebook. Make it so people can view their likes. And dislikes.
